Impasse de Girardon

Impasse de Girardon - formerly the impasse de la Fontaine Saint-Denis.

Legend has it that it was at the fountain situated near this cul de sac that the decapitated Saint Denis came to wash his head. The fountain was also said to have miraculous powers - in particular that virgins who drank at the fountain would remain faithful to their husbands. Ignacious Loyola, after arriving in Paris, reputedly bathed in the fountain.
